Christmas Eve in Warley

The crowds were bigger than ever for the traditional Christmas Eve Carol Sing despite the indifferent weather this year.  Villagers gathered at the Maypole which was literally packed to the rafters eagerly awaiting the arrival of Friendly Brass Band who kicked off the traditional sing just before the clock struck midnight.  Everyone was in fine voice as they gathered round the tree to welcome in Christmas Day.

Warley Green Trail: Panorama Board

The Warley Green Trail through the village encompasses nature, geography and history and in the graveyard this comes together in the new information board featuring the panorama of the Norland and Sowerby hillside.

The panorama board is designed and illustrated by Axel Abel Art with funding by Northern Gas Networks and the Community Development Foundation.

Shepherds of Warley

Anthony Shepherd, a visitor from Brighton, came to the area in August to further his research into his family history. Anthony has traced his ancestors back to 1360 in Warley and Ripponden and wants to find a connection between the Shepherd name and any Warley buildings which carry the Shepherd name, e.g. Far Shepherd House Farm.
