Christmas Eve in Warley

The crowds were bigger than ever for the traditional Christmas Eve Carol Sing despite the indifferent weather this year.  Villagers gathered at the Maypole which was literally packed to the rafters eagerly awaiting the arrival of Friendly Brass Band who kicked off the traditional sing just before the clock struck midnight.  Everyone was in fine voice as they gathered round the tree to welcome in Christmas Day.

A Big Thank You From A Warley Resident

When Jean Smith of Holme Drive was approaching 70 she decided to celebrate her big birthday with a party for a few friends – 90 to be precise!

She organised her ‘do’ at the Vandals Rugby Club on Friday 22 September and made sure the night went with a swing.

Jean didn’t want any presents, asking instead for contributions to her two favourite charities. By the end of the night she had collected an amazing £120 for the Forget-me-Not Children’s Hospice and £110 for the Heart Foundation.

Jean was truly thrilled with the evening and wants to say a big thank you to everyone!

Roll on more village birthday parties!

Warley Open Gardens Update

The Open Gardens day in July was another great success in the Bloomin’ Warley calendar that brought visitors old and new from far and wide for the second year of this event.

A percentage of the proceeds raised was donated to the local charity, the Ebenezer Church Food & Support Drop-In in Halifax, and a letter of thanks has been received by WCA for the donation of £100.
